Estancia Tanamá Animal Sanctuary is funding TNR programs, providing veterinary care, and working to establish shelter space for street dogs and cats in Puerto Rico.
Funding TNR for Street Animals Across Puerto Rico
Every day, thousands of dogs and cats live on the streets of Puerto Rico without shelter, care, or anyone to speak up for them. At Estancia Tanamá, we’re working to change that.
One of the most effective long-term solutions to street animal overpopulation is trap, neuter, and release, commonly known as TNR. We’re currently helping fund TNR efforts across the island in partnership with a dedicated group of rescuers from the east coast. By reducing the number of animals born into homelessness, TNR creates lasting change for Puerto Rico’s animal population.
Veterinary Care and Foster Support for Injured Animals
Many of the street animals we encounter are not just homeless. They are injured and in need of medical attention. We are actively working to connect these animals with veterinary care and to secure foster placements before and after surgery so they have a safe, stable place to recover.
If you are interested in fostering an animal in Puerto Rico, we would love to hear from you.
Rescue Efforts Near the Ceiba Military Base
We are currently in conversations with a local group in Ceiba, Puerto Rico, about expanding our rescue work near the former military base, an area with a significant population of street animals in need of help.
We are seeking assistance to establish a dedicated space in Ceiba that could serve as a shelter and care hub for rescued animals in the region. This would allow us to reach more animals and provide more consistent support where it is needed most.
