Estancia Tanamá Animal Sanctuary is building Puerto Rico's first comprehensive rescue and rehabilitation center – one paw at a time.
Help Us Build It
Estancia Tanamá is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by Dr. Ana V. Caceres Agosto to build what Puerto Rico's stray animals have never had — a shelter fully equipped to rescue, rehabilitate, rehome, or provide permanent sanctuary.
Across Puerto Rico, more than 650,000 dogs and over 1 million cats are living on the streets. In shelters, euthanasia rates can reach as high as 94–96%.¹ These animals aren't statistics, they're survivors waiting for someone to build them a way out. That's exactly what we're doing.

The work has already started. Animals are being pulled from the streets, given medical care, and placed on a path toward safety, because showing up now matters just as much as what we're building for the future.
See Our WorkThe goal is to build a comprehensive animal sanctuary with on-site veterinary care, a permanent place for healing, protection, and second chances for street animals.
See the Vision
The mission is already in motion and we are documenting every step. From rescues and recoveries to site development and partnerships, this is where you can see the work as it happens.
